Jean Abbott Walsh, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. She was born on March 24, 1938 to the late James Dewey and Louise Pyatt Abbott. She was the wife of the late Paul Hunter “Toby” Walsh, Jr.
Jean was a homemaker and member of Grove Park Baptist Church and the BYKOTA Sunday School Class. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Appalachian State Teacher’s College “ASU”. She was a substitute teacher for the Burlington City School and helped with registration at Elon College for the fall and spring semesters for many years. Jean volunteered for the Heart Fund and the Alamance County Service League. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Mabrey Mill in Virginia and the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her son, Hunter Walsh and his wife, Nikki; her grandchildren, Mitchell Walsh, Seth Walsh and Anna Wilkinson and husband, Jordan; her great grandchildren, Maven, Beckham and Gatlin Wilkinson; her twin sister and best friend, Betty Jo Holland and husband, John Phillip Holland, Jr.; her nephews, Rev. Jay Holland and wife, Robin, Michael Holland and wife, Juliet and Mark Holland and wife, Katherine; her half-sister, Joy Scarbrough Abney and her half-brother, Ray Scarbrough, Jr.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 2:00PM at Grove Park Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Marc Sanders and Rev. Jay Holland. The family will be receive friends from 12:45-1:45PM prior to the service at the church.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Authoracare Hospice and Peak Resources for taking care of Jean over the past months.
