Jean Meisinger Norling, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 16, 1933 to George and Betty Meisinger.

Jean’s personality was nothing short of feisty; she embraced life with passion and enthusiasm. She was a quintessential classic housewife, fully committed to supporting her husband, Robert Arthur Norling, while raising three boys and maintaining a household. Together, they built a beautiful life, grounded in mutual respect and deep love, nurturing a family that would go on to honor their values and traditions.

Beyond her roles as a devoted wife and mother, Jean was also an exceptional cook, renowned for her specialty dish, ossobuco. In addition to her culinary skills, she had a deep love for birdwatching at her window and playing card games with her family and friends. In her younger days, she enjoyed playing tennis and was one of the early enthusiasts of pickleball.

Jean was an active member of her church community at Trailhead Church, where she found joy in fellowship and shared moments with her church family.

Jean is survived by her three sons: Robert "Bob" Norling and wife Janet, Edward Norling and partner Gail Mauer, and Bruce Norling and wife Janet. She was a proud grandmother to Jonathan Norling, Jaclyn Norling and husband Choul Ngoal, James Norling, Garrett Lawrence and wife Kim, and Colby Norling and wife Amanda, and great-grandchildren, Cole Norling, Olivia Norling, Reid Lawrence, Calirose Lawrence, and Ella Ngoal. She is also survived by her sister, Merry Lou Schoenfelder.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, George and Betty Meisinger, and her beloved husband of 71 years, Robert Arthur Norling.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11 AM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM prior to the service. Interment will be private at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.
