Jean Fletcher Cathey

Ms. Jean Fletcher Cathey, age 91, of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Hospice Home.

     A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Fletcher and the late Mary Ruth Williams.  She graduated from Burlington High School and retired after a long career with Western Electric, later known as AT&T/ Lucent Technologies.  She was a member of First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed singing and formerly sang with the Jimmy Perkins Orchestra.  Some of her favorite activities were playing bridge, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.

     Ms. Cathey is survived by her three children, Michael Cathey, Tony Cathey and his wife, Myra, and Blair Stocker and her husband, Peter; five grandchildren, Michael Capps, Blake Cathey and wife, Hollie, Jenna Cathey Bengel, Emma Stocker and Ian Stocker; and two great grandchildren, Stella and Aiden.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Sonny Fletcher; and a sister, Faye Burch.

     The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Reid Dickens.  Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:45 – 10:45 AM Thursday prior to the service.
