Jean Bray

Jean Cox Shue Bray, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at ARMC. She was a native of Wake County and the daughter of the late Donald and Sarah Perdue Cox. She was the wife of the late Carl Everette Shue, Jr. who died in 1975 and later the wife of the late Clayton Jerome Bray who died in 1997.

Jean was retired from Sears and was employed for many years with GE. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and for many years served on the Communion Committee. She loved animals and cared for and fed any that came her way. Jean enjoyed crocheting for her family and friends and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Lynne Hatchel and husband, Tim of Burlington; grandchildren, Tori Lynne Neal and husband, Byron, Ashley Harris and husband, Adam and Sam Hatchel and wife, Sarah; great grandchildren, Timothy Harris, Gracelyn Harris, Meredith Ann Neal, Airlie Hatchel and Eidson Hatchel; sister Bernice Crenshaw and a brother, Billy Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and a great grandson, Everett Hatchel.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 2:00PM at Pine Hill Cemetery by Rev. Mick Raynor and Dr. Jerry Bryan.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45-1:45PM at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The family request that all in attendance wear a face covering for the safety of family and friends.
