Joseph "Jay" "J.E." "Jaybird" Faucette

Joseph “Jay” “J.E.” “Jaybird” Faucette, 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born in Vance County to the late Alton Roger and Shirley Aileen Lloyd Faucette and was married for 37 years to Linda Bowens Faucette who survives.

Jay was a member of Friendly Lane Baptist Church and retired from the Maintenance Department at Twin Lakes Retirement Community after 19 years of service.  He was an avid softball player (#3) in men’s league, church leagues and on coed teams, and coached women’s softball.  Jay was an avid fan of the Cowboys, Yankees, and Dale Earnhardt (#3).  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, construction, traveling and going on cruises but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Gary Moorefield (Amanda), Carrie Doss, Jason Moorefield (Shannon), and April Lynn (Trey); grandchildren, Alec, Rachel, Julian, Harrison and Connor Moorefield, Willow and Addilyn Doss, Dylan and Madison Moorefield, Jayce Rackley and Zoë Lynn; sister, Joan Self; brother, Robert Faucette and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Billy, Tommy and Phil Myrick.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Craig Cox with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
