Jay Neal "Bobby" Morton

Bobby was a graduate of Williams High School and then went on to UNC Chapel Hill where he was a walk-on for the 1971 – 1972 Tar Heels freshman “Tar Babies” basketball team. He earned undergraduate and Master’s degrees in finance and accounting from Elon University.  He was an accomplished gardener and earned an Associate’s Degree in Horticulture from Alamance Community College.  Another of his accomplishments was completing the Marine Corp. marathon in Washington, DC.  Bobby and Denise lived in Burlington until 2019, when they moved to Chapel Hill to be closer to his beloved Tar Heels. 

Survivors other than his wife, Denise Morton include his sister, Cathy Reiter and husband Michael of Colorado; brother, Gerry Morton and wife Faye of Greensboro; niece, Katie Morton Riddle and husband, Garrett; his nephew, Thomas Morton as well as his feline companions, Mama Cat, Fluffy and Sweet Pea, who he adored.  He was preceded in death by his parents and step mother, Linda Morton. 

The celebration of life service for Bobby will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 17, 2022 in the chapel at Lowe Funeral Home.
