Janet P. Yarborough, 68, of 634 Huntington St. Elon, and formerly of McKeesport, PA passed away Wednesday, July 8th, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Pittsburgh, PA and was the daughter of the late Paul J. and Katherine DeSalvo Glasser. Janet was a local artist and was widely known as Mrs. Clause. She participated as such in numerous events and places, and was the founder of Mrs. Clause Caring for Kids. She was a member of Wings to Recovery, and of the Burlington Women's club, as well as a volunteer at the ARMC Cancer Center. Janet was a retired business woman and real estate developer. Survivors include two sons, Jeffery P. Yarborough of Midland, TX, Roy J. Yarborough of Pittsburgh, PA, and Dennis Hines of Burlington, who was like a son to her; granddaughters, Casey Thorwart, Jaclyn Trombulak, and Ashley Yarborough; great grandchildren, Xander and Xoe; one sister, Doris Samuels; niece, Sarah Jane; nephew, Herbert; and her cats, Sam and Sophie. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, June Yarborough Ripple. The family wishes to express their special gratitude to Sheila Ray Thompson, Suzanne Smith, Carol Frueh, Dick and Barbara Swank, Willie Mae Currie, Dr. Sam Powell, Dr. Janak Choksi, as well as to all the nurses, staff, and volunteers that helped care for Janet at the Cancer Center and at Alamance Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Angie Wrenn. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
