Janet Salmons Stressman

April 5, 1957 — November 11, 2024

Fremont

With heavy hearts but joyful memories, we announce the passing of our beloved Janet Lee Salmons Stressman, who left this world on November 11, 2024, at AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Burlington, NC. Born on April 5, 1957, in Guilford County, Janet was the daughter of the late Vernon James Salmons and Betty Lee Murray.

Janet lived a life marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering spirit. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, whose presence filled every room with warmth, laughter, and joy. Known for her generous and gregarious personality, Janet was the kind of person who could light up any space with her smile and infectious enthusiasm. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her generosity extended beyond her family, touching the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was always ready with a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or a helping hand to those in need.

As an Army spouse for 26 years, Janet’s life was a journey of adventure, travel, and service to her family. The military took her across the globe, and through each new place, she brought her trademark warmth and care. Janet took immense pride in her role as a stay-at-home mom, creating a loving and nurturing home wherever she went. She raised three wonderful children—Brittney, Blake, and Brandon—instilling in them the values of independence, thoughtfulness, and compassion. She worked tirelessly to ensure that their home was always filled with love, laughter, and, of course, three hearty meals a day. Janet’s legacy lives on in her children, who carry forward the lessons she taught them.

As a grandmother, Janet’s love knew no bounds. Her grandchildren—Jason, Paige, Brendon, Braedyn, and Bryson—were the light of her life, and she delighted in spoiling them with affection and homemade biscuits, which will be lovingly remembered by all who tasted them. Janet was the heart and soul of her family, the one everyone turned to for comfort, advice, and support. Her joy and love for life were contagious, and she made every moment feel special, no matter how small.

Janet’s passion for friendship began early in life. As a child, she wanted nothing more than to be everyone’s friend, often handing out candy to her peers to make them smile. This spirit of kindness and connection stayed with her throughout her adult years, and she passed it down to her children, who share her love for people and for bringing others together.

Janet is survived by her children, Brittney Dobson, Blake Stressman, and Brandon Stressman; her grandchildren, Jason and Paige Dobson, and Brendon, Braedyn, and Bryson Stressman; and her siblings, Cathy Mooneyham, Susan Allen, Vernon Salmons, Jimmy Salmons, Angela Hunter, and Natalie Byrd. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Marie Conklin.

In keeping with Janet’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Her life will be celebrated in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of being touched by her kindness.

Janet’s spirit of love and generosity will never be forgotten, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of calling her family or friend. You may send condolences at www.lowefuneralhome.com.
