Janet Dingeldein

Burlington Janet Ann Bell Dingeldein, 94, of Burlington, N.C., passed away on Friday morning, November 6, 2015. Janet was born in New York City in 1921 and grew up on Long Island with her parents, Katherine and Frederick Bell both deceased. She attended Syracuse University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. While at Syracuse she met George Dingeldein deceased, whom she later married. The two moved to N.C. in 1942. Janet was a member of several social organizations in Greensboro Greensboro Country Club, Green Thumbs Garden Club, Historical Book Club and in Burlington Coterie Book Club, Service League, and Garden Lovers' Club. She loved to cook, garden, play bridge, and golf. Janet taught art for many years and was an accomplished artist herself, having turned down a job offer as a Vogue Magazine fashion illustrator in order to marry George. She and George traveled extensively; Janet's favorite countries to visit were Italy and Africa. An avid reader with a penchant for historical fiction, Janet had a brilliant mind and a talent for telling witty jokes. Janet and George's eldest son, George Peter Dingeldein, Jr., died in 2012. Janet's surviving family members include two sons: Paul Daimler, of Wilton, CT.; and Steven Dingeldein Mary of Burlington, NC; three grandchildren: Laura Dingeldein, of Chicago, IL; Andrea Dingeldein of Pacific Grove, CA; and Thorne Laura Daimler, of St. John, IN; and one great grandson, Nolan Daimler. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. There will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance County or to the charity of your choice. "Why then should we grieve, that a new child is born among the immortals, a new member added to their happy society? We are spirits, that bodies should be lent us, while they afford us pleasure, assist us in acquiring knowledge, or in doing good to our fellow creatures, is a kind and benevolent act of God." ~ Benjamin Franklin, 1756.
