Whitsett-Janet Ruth Depriest Ahlrich, 63 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2016. She was born in Mattoon, Illinois and was the wife of 42 years to Larry Francis Ahlrich.
Janet was a retired Elementary school teacher and attended St. Marks Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors. Janet was fond of hiking and exploring and she was also a published author. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of the home; daughter, Erin E. Millspaugh and her husband, David of Burlington; son, Jeremy M. Ahlrich and his wife, Catherine T. of Middletown, Delaware; grandchildren, McKenzie E. Millspaugh, Gabriella G. Millspaugh, Ethan D. Ahlrich, Jacob T. Ahlrich and Caden M. Ahlrich; sister, Margaret L. Gurney and her husband, Terry of Kingman, Indiana; brothers, Thomas A. Depreist and his wife, Caroline and John E. Depriest and his wife,Yadira V. both of Kissimmee, Florida, She was preceded in death by her mother, Stella Ruth Lichtenwalter Depriest and her sister, Virginia E. England.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Rodney Staley and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
