Burlington-Jane Elizabeth Dickens Dutton, age 78 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2015. She was a native of Nash County and the wife of 58 years to Kenneth Earl Dutton who survives. Jane retired after over 20 years with the US Postal Service. She was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir. Jane loved southern gospel music and was known for her culinary talents. She was a loving and devoted Christian wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth E. Dutton of the home; sons, Darrell Dutton and wife, Dr. Deborah Johnson of Gibsonville and David Dutton and wife, Ellen of Pleasant Hill, California; granddaughters, Emily and Elizabeth Dutton; brothers, Tom Dickens and wife, Carolyn of Advance and Lt. Col. Fred Dickens and wife, Jeannie of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angeline Elizabeth Dutton and parents, Joseph Irvin and Mary George Fisher Dickens; brother, Morris Dickens and sisters, Corinne Shearin, Anna Matthews and Carolyn Schettino. A service to celebrate she life will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Garry Baldwin and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:45 pm prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
