Jane Catoe

Burlington - Mary Jane Thompson Catoe, 85 went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 6, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Alamance County on September 5, 1932 to the late Zeno Jackson and Mary Myrtle Foster Thompson and was the wife of 44 year to the late William Lafer "Bill" Catoe, Sr.
Jane was a longtime member of Riverside Baptist Church and Peoples Memorial Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and the Lady's Class. She was a nurse for over 40 years at Burlington Dermatology and Alamance County Hospital. Jane was also a member of the Gideon's Ladies Auxiliary and was a volunteer for the Burlington Police Department Victim's Assistant Program. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. Her joy came in helping other people as she was a true servant of the Lord.
Survivors include her daughters, Denise Catoe Parks and husband Hersell of Emerald Isle, Donna Catoe Allen and husband Billy of Snow Camp; son, William "Billy" Catoe, Jr. and wife Rita of Burlington; grandchildren, Jeffrey Parks and wife Carmen of Wilmington, Holly Jean Parks also of Wilmington, Megan Allen of Greensboro; great grandchildren, Abby Jane Parks, Archer Parks and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters, Shirley Thompson Marley, Peggy Thompson Christopher and Faye Foster Patton.
A service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Curtis Oakley, Rev. Billy Allen and Billy Catoe with the interment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home.
