Elon, NC James Edward Wallace, age 56, of 3141 Altamahaw Race Track Road, passed away Sunday July 30, 2006 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Person County, he was son of the late Hubert Auther and Myrtle Tucker Wallace and husband of Mendy Saul Wallace who survives. Mr. Wallace was reared at the Elon Homes for Children. He was a line supervisor with GKN, a member of Glencoe Baptist Church, was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, former president of the Western Alamance High School Boosters and an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Mendy Saul Wallace of the home; daughter, Deena Wallace Gilliam and husband Jason; son Michael Glenn Wallace and wife Paula; grandchildren Alston, Bayleigh, Ethan and Presley; brothers, Robert Lee Wallace, Sr. of Ringgold, VA, Fleetwood Everett Wallace of Semora, Hubert Tom Wallace of Roxboro and N. Lawrence Wallace of Burlington; sisters Mamie Wallace Snow of Mauldin, SC and Mary Wallace Turner of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; son James Edward Wallace, Jr.; brother, Prince Auther Wallace and sister, Shirley Ann Harn. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday August 2, 2006 at the Glencoe Baptist Church by Rev. Darrell Massey, pastor. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. Mr. Wallace will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8 pm Tuesday and at other times at the residence.
