James Turner

Burlington, NC James R. "Jimmy" Turner, age 68, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Moses Cone Hospital. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of the late Alexandra Kandounas Turner. Jimmy was the owner and operator of R. J. Turner and Sons Well Company for over 60 years. He was a member of the Home Builders Association and the NC Ground Water Association. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren especially attending their sporting events. Jimmy was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his sons, Ricky Turner and his wife, Tina of Burlington and Rusty Turner and his wife, Angie of Burlington; daughter, Tammy Powell and her husband, Ken of Mebane; grandchildren, Caroline and Kristen Powell, Noah and Austin Turner and Nicholas and Jacob Turner; mother, Kathleen Shoffner Turner of Burlington and a loving and special friend, Glenda Motley of Burlington; sister, Kathy Church and her husband, Kenny of Burlington; brother, William "Bill" Turner of Whitsett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alexandra Kandounas Turner and his father, Russell James "R.J." Turner. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Otis Wiley and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and other times at the homes of Ricky Tuner and Rusty Turner.
