Burlington, NC James Daniel Tingen, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and was the husband of 62 years to Vidie Barbee Tingen who survives. James retired after over 35 years from Tower Hosiery Mills. He was a member of Powerline Church of the Nazarene where he sang in the church choir, mowed the church lawn and was a greeter. He attended Bethel United Methodist Church where he helped in various capacities. James enjoyed antique cars and mowing yards for his family, friends and neighbors. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Vidie Barbee Tingen of the home; son, Jimmie Tingen and wife, Ruby of Burlington; daughter, Janice Black and husband, Jerry of Liberty; grandchildren, Jim Tingen and wife, Angie, Jeremy Black and wife, April and Jessica Black; great grandchildren, Allison Tingen, Allen James Tingen and Cooper Black. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas and Tabbie Duncan Tingen; five sisters and four brothers. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Tim Taylor and Rev. Renee Burnette. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
