Burlington – Mr. James D. Peeler, 94 of 1543 Littlejohn Lane East, died on Friday, May 21, 2021 following a brief illness. Mr. Peeler was born in Salisbury, NC to Rev. John C. and Sallie Holshouser Peeler. He graduated from Salisbury High School and Elon College and later enlisted in the US Army. A long-time resident of Burlington, Mr. Peeler worked at Western Electric for many years until retirement and was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. He loved going to Holden Beach with his nieces and nephews and did so for most of his life.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 8 sisters. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and resided for many years with Robert and Beryl Peeler until his death.
A graveside service will be held 3:00pm on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at St. Mark’s Church Cemetery by Rev. Ben Bishop. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
