Burlington-James Jim Parker, Jr. age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Hospice. He was a native of Robeson County and the husband of 60 years to the late Shirley Ann Jones Parker who died in 2013. James retired from the Pender County ABC Board in Burgaw, NC and was a member of Friendship Community Baptist Church. He was a US Air Force veteran and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his son, James A. Parker and wife, Rhonda and Wayne L. Parker; daughters, Loretta Edwards and husband, Scott, Deborah Dyer, Charlotte Cole and husband, Michael; grandchildren, John Swaim, Joshua Hall, Anthony Hall, Alex Brown, Jordan Parker, Blake Driggers, Dustin Driggers, Christopher Palmer, Daniel Palmer, Drew Palmer, Michael Cole, Jr. and Catherine Cole; thirteen great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Bullock and brother-in-law, Charles Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Jones Parker; grandson, James Lynn Jay Parker; parents, James Dalphus Parker and Emmie Sutton Parker; brother, Trenton Parker and sisters, Essie Price and Mabel Faulk. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Rick Webster and the burial will follow with military honors at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:45 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence. The Parker family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during their fathers illness.
