Burlington, NC James Woodrow Montgomery, age 85, of 1414 Sharp Road went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Hospice Home. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of sixteen years to Temperance Kiser Hall Montgomery who survives. James retired from Annedeen Hosiery and was a member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church. He served in the US Army during WW II in the European Theatre. James was a craftsman enjoying building and making things with his hands. He and his wife were members of the former square dance group called the Cactus Squares. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Temperance Kiser Hall Montgomery of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Woodrow and Judy Montgomery of Denton, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Robert Talley of Burlington; step sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Laura Hall of Burlington, Jeffrey Lynn Hall of Richmond, Virginia; step daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Clyde Roney of Burlington; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; sister, Etta Coble of Burlington; brother, Winfred Montgomery of High Point, NC. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Rook Montgomery; parents, Freeman and Rosa Allen Montgomery; sister, Gelina Couch; brother, Herman Montgomery. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Bennie Smith and assisted by Pastor Rodney Murray and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times the family will be at the home.
