James Mebane, Sr.

James Herbert Mebane, Sr., 66, of 2547 Hilldale St. passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. He was born in Alamance County to the late Herbert and Lillie Mae Hazel Mebane and graduated from Jordan Sellars High School. Mr. Mebane was a very active member and an ordained minister at the Mebane Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was a former employee with United Dairy and Flowers Bakery and more recently at Advance Auto. He is survived by his loving wife, Selena Roberson Mebane of the home; daughter, Sharon King of Burlington; sons, James H. Mebane, Jr. of Elon and Anthony J. Gwen Mebane of Green Level; stepchildren, Rodney Roberson of Greensboro, Terleada Jacobs of Burlington and Shenna Miles of Creedmore; grandson, Tony J. Mebane; 7 step grandchildren; sisters, Lucinda Mebane of Burlington and Alice Liggins of Glen Raven and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Mebane Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses with Elder Reginald Brinkley officiating. At other times the family will receive friends at the home.
