James McLean

Burlington James Morris McLean, 84, formerly of Dick St. in Gibsonville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Hospice Home after a brief illness. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late William Morris McLean, Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Brackett McLean, and was married to the late Lorena Boggs McLean. He was a former truck driver for Associated Transport and later retired from AMP, Inc. Mr. McLean was a member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville where he was a member of the Sears Bible Class, choir member, former member of the Board of Trustees, former Assistant Adult Sunday School Superintendent and church usher. He was also a member of A.I.A. Senior Citizens Group in Gibsonville, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a member of the Singing Seniors of Gibsonville and was a 50 year member of Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda M. and Bill Davis of Burlington; son, James John McLean of Rougemont; 5 grandchildren, Sherry M. Marshburn, Pamela D. Welch, W. Boyce Davis, Beverly D. Melton and James D. McLean; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Jean McLean and Sara McLean Borders, both of Charlotte; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles Alexander and Shirley McLean of Durham, and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sisters, Ida Mae McLean Smith and Helen McLean Benfield, and a brother, William M. McLean. He also leaves behind many wonderful friends who will sorely miss him. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 1, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville by Rev. Brian Ayers with burial to follow in the Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 Sunday afternoon at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of a granddaughter, Beverly Melton, 309 Woodland Dr., Elon, NC 27244. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, 221 Piedmont Ave., Gibsonville, NC 27249 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
