James McCall

James Michael "Mike" McCall, 72, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Moses Cone Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the late David Dixon "Dave" McCall II, Colonel in the US Air Force and the late Myrl Goodspeed McCall; was raised in a career military family and loved every minute of it.

Mike was the former co-owner of Gold's Gym and was the current owner/partner of The EDGE Health & Fitness. He earned his BS in Engineering from Florida Atlantic University, a MS in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University and a Mini-MBA from the University of PA Wharton School of Business & ATT. Retired as the Director of Program Management from Lucent Technologies in 1999 after 28 years of service. Mike was a member of St. Mark's Church and The Challenge Golf Course where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends; loved Vegas and playing poker with his buddies.

Survivors include a son, James Michael "Mike" McCall II and his fiancé, Helen Smpardos; a daughter, Chelene McCall Paraschos; grandchildren that he adored, Ali and Aidan Paraschos; a fantastic woman and mother of my children, Pat McCall; brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Carol McCall III; niece, Terri Depoto and husband, Tony; great niece, Brittany Depoto; son-in-law, Dr. Alex Paraschos; sister-in-law, Kathy Flora; Maria his housekeeper and friend; a very close friend Emily Holt and her children; his beloved dog, Newton; all of his poker buddies and golf friends.

The celebration of life service will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Mark's Church by Rev. Bob Disher. The family will receive friends with a reception from 3:00 to 5:00PM Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
