James May

Whitsett - James Douglas "Jimmy" May, 78, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Clapp's Nursing Center. He was born on December 4, 1938 in Guilford County to the late Russell Mero May and Elsie Marie Loye May and was the husband to Peggy Darnell Clapp May of 56 years who survives.
Jimmy retired after 32 years with Black Cadillac Olds. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, a charter member of the Whitsett Volunteer Fire Department and was in the National Guard.
Survivors other than his wife, Peggy include his daughter, Terisa Horton and husband, Jay; a son, Terry May and wife, Missy; granddaughters, Rebecca and Rachel May; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Martha May, Larry and Linda May, Gary and Linda May, Gene and Nan May; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Paul Doby.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, July 30, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
