James Kirkpatrick

James Ralph “Buddy” Kirkpatrick, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 24, 2019. A native of Alamance County, he was born to the late James E. and Lucille K. Kirkpatrick (Cates) and was the husband of June Benoy Kirkpatrick for over 49 years.

Buddy was in the first graduating class of Southern Alamance High School.  He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Thailand and volunteered to serve in Vietnam during war time.  After receiving his Electronics Engineering degree, he worked for R.F. Kirkpatrick & Sons, Western Electric, General Electric for over 20 years and at Carolina Biological.  He was a member of Greenway Park Baptist Church where he had served as trustee and sound technician.

Survivors include his wife, June, and daughters: Susan Kolb (Jeremiah) and Teressa Southern (Chris) and grandchildren: Grant, Savannah, Nicholas, Isabella, Evan and Kinsley. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Kirkpatrick with whom he lived.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Greenway Park Baptist Church by Pastor Aaron Wall with burial to follow in the Historic Providence Christian Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30–1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
