James Edward “Jim” Brumley, Sr., 94, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Beacon Place in Greensboro. Jim was born April 24, 1929 in Greenville, SC to the late Mattie Lee Brumley and William Elmore Brumley.
He was a 1950 graduate of Clemson College (now Clemson University) with a degree in Textile Manufacturing and a commission in the U.S. Air Force, in which he served two years in the far east during the Korean Conflict. Jim also spent 44 years as an industrial engineer. 22 years with Burlington Industries and 22 years with Cone Mills. After which he worked 8 years with the parts department of Burlington Honda and 11 years as the Director of Outside Customer Sales and Service with Crown Automotive in Greensboro, NC.
Jim was a member of People’s Memorial Christian Church, where he taught the Light Bearers Sunday School class for many years. He was a member of Bula 409 Masonic Lodge where he served over 60 years, also as chaplain for over 10 of those years.
Jim is survived by his son; James “Jimmy” E. Brumley, Jr. and wife, Judy of Greensboro, LuAnn Isley and husband, Don of Greensboro, grandchildren; Megan Grace Brumley Church and husband David of Apex, James Edward (Jimbo) Brumley III and wife Kelsey of Raleigh and Keith Isley of Greensboro, great grandchild; Sadie Grace Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Holland Brumley and parents; William and Mattie Lee Brumley.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the residents and support staff at Brookedale Lawndale for their love and care for Jim during his years there.
There will be a graveside service to celebrate Jim’s life at 2:00PM on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Gary Williams. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 at Lowe Funeral Home prior to processing to the cemetery.
