James Garner, Sr.

James "Jimmy" Howard Garner, Sr., 53, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016. He was born in Alamance County on June 1, 1963 to the late William "Bud" Arland Garner, Jr. and Betty Jo Ireland Garner and was the husband of 34 years to Yvonne DeGail Garner who died on February 9th of this year.

James retired from Textiles as a supervisor and he enjoyed playing the lottery and cooking. He was an avid Tar Heel and spent many happy hours enjoying his family and life. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Toombs of Burlington and a son, James Howard Garner, Jr. also of Burlington; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, David Wayne Garner, William Michael Garner, Jr. and Randy Keith Garner; sister, Vicky Lynn.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Doug Durham. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at 262 Christopher Dr. in Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
