James Fletcher

Mr. James Curtis Fletcher, age 93, of 343 Baldwin Rd., Apt D-1, #6 of Oak Creek Retirement Community, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several weeks of failing health. Born in Marlboro County, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Fletcher and the late Mary Thompson Fletcher and was married for over 68 years to Lucille Clayton Fletcher, who survives. Mr. Fletcher was employed with Celanese Corporation, where he served as a supervisor, and he later retired from Webco. He was a member of Front St. United Methodist Church for over 70 years and was also a member of the Builder's Sunday School Class. He was an avid reader and enjoyed helping people any way that he could. Mr. Fletcher is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Mary Lou Tucker and her husband, Franklin, of Ocala, FL; a grandson, Daniel J. Tucker of Arlington, VA; three nephews; and a special family friend Nancy Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas J. Fletcher, Jr. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Front St. United Methodist Church by Rev. Marshall Old and Rev. Ben Alexander. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Front St. United Methodist Church, 136 S. Fisher St., Burlington, NC 27215 or to the charity of the giver's choice.
