James Evans

James Edwin "Jim" Evans, age 68, of 417 Gantwood Lane , passed away at 2:10 PM Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital after several years of declining health. Jim was born on October 2, 1941 in Alamance County to the late James Howard Evans and the late Margaret Way Evans and was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ann Evans. Jim is survived by the love of his life, Nancy Blaisdell of the home; a brother, John david Evans and his wife, Cathy, of Burlington; two step sons, Richie Blaisdell and his wife, Stephanie, and Chad Sharpe all of Burlington; a niece, Lisa Fraser and her husband, David, of Goose Creek, SC and three step grandsons. Jim owned and operated several businesses in the Burlington area during his lifetime including; The Rose Connection, Maple Ave. Produce, The Rose Petal Lawn and Garden Center, Aluminum Recycling and DJ's Western Wear. He was a special person that touched many people during his life's journey. Jim was the type of person who would give a stranger the shirt off his back if they needed it. He loved to go to area flea markets to search for hidden treasures and his face would light up at the mention of a Saturday morning yard sale. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Paul Rhodes. Interment will follow at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 Tuesday evening and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery Corporation, 300 Knox Rd., McLeansville, NC 27301.
