James Davenport

Elon-James “Randy” Davenport, 63 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2020. He was the son of the late James Hubert and Gladys Fogleman Davenport Turner. Randy was the husband of 34 years to Debra “Debbie” Bowden Davenport who survives.

Randy was employed for many years with GE and later Lorillard Tobacco. He was a graduate of Elon College and a veteran of the US Air Force. Randy was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elon and attended Lamb’s Chapel. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Davenport; sons, James Matthew Davenport and Marcus Daniel Davenport; sister, Cheryl Waddell; father and mother-in-law, Don and Katie Bowden; special aunt and nephew, Carolyn Davenport and David Turner; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patty Turner and special nephew, Mike Turner.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2:00pm at Lowe Funeral  Home Chapel by Rev. Terry Huffines. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
