James Cook

James Junior Cook, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 08, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Junior Floyd and Nettie Jane Whitesell Cook and was the husband of late Elizabeth Ann Jones Cook. James attended St. Marks Church and served in the National Guard. He was a former member of the Burlington Royals Boosters and was an avid Duke Blue Devil fan. He was also employed for over 40 years with Cone Mills where he later retired. Survivors include his daughter, Amy Cook Bradford and husband, Will of Burlington; son, David James Cook of Burlington; brothers, Fred Cook and wife, Jackie of Climax, Ervin Cook and wife, Ruth of Sandy Ridge; numerous nieces and nephews and a family friend and caregiver, Leslie Fleckenstein and her family. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and brothers, Herbert Cook, Willie Cook and Lloyd Cook. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ben Bishop with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00pm Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at his home in Gibsonville. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at ARMC, Edgewood Place and Hospice Home for the love and care James has received over the past nine months. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd, Burlington, NC 27215 or to St. Marks Church, 1230 St. Marks Church Rd., Burlington, NC 27215
