James Brown

Whitsett-James M. Brown, 64, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Alamance Health Care following a lengthy illness. A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Andy Alexander and Mary Davis Brown. James was a lifetime member of Springwood Presbyterian Church. He was a very sociable person, gaining many friends throughout the years. James is survived by his brothers, Andy Brown and wife, Worda of Whitsett, Bobby L. Brown of Burlington and Melvin Brown of Whitsett and two sisters, Clara Combs of Burlington and Vallie Palmer and husband, Jim of Whitsett. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pauline Duckworth. A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Springwood Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dr. Genie Martin and Pastor Tim Stevens with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
