James Brewer

James Elwood Brewer, 77, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Hospice Home following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was married to Nancy Sexton Brewer for almost 54 years and was born July 14, 1935 in Montgomery County, NC to the late Eddie Brewer, Sr. and Connie Dawkins Brewer. James served in the U.S. Navy then worked for Western-Electric, then retiring from Lucent Technologies after many years of service. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher, Treasurer, on the Administrative Council, Trustee and Representative to the Annual Conference of the Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of the home, a daughter Melissa Pendleton and her husband Michael of Charlotte, a granddaughter Nancy Ann Pendleton and a brother Eddie Brewer, Jr. of Candor. The funeral will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at Fairview United Methodist Church by Rev. Mark Clark. A committal service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Candor, NC. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
