Burlington-- Mr. James John "Jim" Bolzan, Jr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Chapel in the Twin Lakes Memory Care Center in Burlington, NC officiated by Rev. John Mark Beam III.
Jim was born on February 13, 1928 in Cleveland OH to the late James John Bolzan, Sr. and Marie Skoda Bolzan. Upon graduation from West High School in Cleveland in 1946, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the occupational forces in Japan from September 1946 to December 1947. During his service, he attained the rank of Master (Staff) Sergeant and was honorably discharged in January 1948. Jim attended Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, OH, from 1948 to 1952, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation in 1952, Jim began a long and successful career as an Electrical Engineer, specializing in small electrical motors. Jim worked for Robbins and Myers in Springfield, OH from 1952 to 1963, the Singer Company in Anderson, SC from 1963 to 1976, and Black and Decker in Towson, MD from 1976 until his retirement in 1994. Jim married Judith Anna (Kline) Bolzan on August 29, 1953 and he was a devoted husband to Judy for 60 years until her death on March 28, 2014. Jim enjoyed golf, bowling, traveling and playing Bridge with Judy and friends.
He is survived by sons, Mark J. (Connie) Bolzan, Paul M. (Kathy) Bolzan and Alan D. (Caryl) Bolzan; sister, Josephine Modock; grandsons, Matthew and Zachary; and grand-daughter, Lauren.
The family extends their most heartfelt thanks to the staff of Twin Lakes Memory Care Center for taking such great care of Jim in the last months of his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Twin Lakes Memory Care Center in Burlington NC or Low’s Lutheran Church in Liberty NC in memory of James John Bolzan, Jr.
