James Coleman "J.C." Bolick, 93, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at The Oaks of Alamance. He was born October 13, 1919 in Athens, GA to the late Sidney Rhodes and Sarah Jane Ashe Bolick and was the husband of 39 years to Pearl Hunley Bolick who survives. J.C. was a member of Antioch Community Church and was a WWII veteran serving in the 10th Army-193rd Tank Battalion during the invasion of Okinawa. Survivors include his wife; son, Don Bolick and wife, Kay; daughter, Judy Shambley and husband, Wayne; grandchildren, Wendy Shambley and Chris Shambley; step children, Lois East, Helen Reaves and husband, Harry, Charles Pugh and wife, Priscilla, Dianne Rittenmeyer and husband, Jim; brother, George Wallace Bolick; sister, Dot Griffin and numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and a step daughter, Sandi Nicholson. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Mark Fox with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at The Oaks of Alamance at 1670 Westbrook Ave. in Burlington. Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell made it possible for J.C. to remain at the Oaks this past year with his wife, Pearl. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice at 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
