James Atkins

Burlington James E. Atkins, age 74, of 1932 Hilldale Dr., passed away Saturday December 8, 2007 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. A native of Surry County, he was son of the late Rufus Lee Atkiins and Cora Blanche Childress Atkins. He was retired from Enviromental Air in Greensboro. Mr. Atkins is survived by his wife, Rebecca Bennett Becky Atkins of Burlington; son, James Kevin Atkins and wife Christy of Elon; 3 daughters, Lynne Calhoun and husband Johnny of Kernersville, Debbie Edwards and husband Garry of Locust and Christie Walin of Winston-Salem; Mother, Cora Blanche Childress Atkins of Elon; grandchildren, Michelle Gunton, Gabriel Sears, Charlotte Holder, Kristina Atkins and Courtney Atkins; 4 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 12:30 until 1:30 PM Tuesday, prior to the graveside service and at other times at the home of Kevin Atkins; 1664 North NC 87, Elon.
