Jimmy Allen Smith, 78, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, July 06, 2013 at the Hospice Home. He was born in Alamance County to the late Hubert and Maggie Allen Smith and was the husband of 61years to Ruth Mae Harden Smith of the home. Jimmy was a US Navy Veteran. He was employed with Chrysler as a mechanic and was the owner of Smith's Bait and Tackle where he later retired. He then served as the lake warden at the Stoney Creek Resevoir. Jimmy was a coastguard auxiliary and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife of the home; daughters, Linda Collins of Burlington and Lisa Brooks and husband, Mike of Elon; son, Steven Allen Smith, Sr. of Burlington; grandchildren, Robert "Skeeter" Allen Kessler and wife, Aspen, Michael Allen Brooks, Steven Allen Smith, Jr., Theresa Smith, Samantha Shortridge and Joshua Allen Smith; great grandchildren, Conner "Cornbread" Allen Smith, Benjamin Smith and Lilly Smith and a half sister, Peggy Hurst. He was preceded in death by his parents and half sisters, Penny Lewis and Joyce Flor. A funeral service will be held 2:00 Monday, July 8, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bennie Smith. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45pm prior to the service and other times at the home.
