Jackie Donald Branson

     Mr. Jackie Donald “Jack’ Branson, age 70, of Whitsett, NC, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at his home with his loving wife, Dona, by his side.  For the last year and a half he fought hard to beat the ravages of cancer and mercifully the struggle is now over.

     Jack was married to his wife, Dona, for almost fifty years and has left a void in her heart that can never be filled.  He had a very successful career as a heavy equipment salesman and many of his customers became lifelong friends.  His word was his bond and they appreciated his honesty and integrity.  He had a love for all things camping and treasured the wonderful friendships he made.   Jack spent many hours mowing his large yard, and even though he acted like it was a chore, he secretly loved it.

     Mr. Branson is survived by his wife, Dona Thompson Branson; his beloved canine buddy, “Parker”; his mother-in-law, Betty Thompson; sister-in-law, Pat Branson; brother-in-law, Chuck Thompson and wife, Kelly; nephew, Alan Branson and wife, Rhonda, of Julian; niece, Beth Harris and husband, Jeff of Whitsett; four great nieces and nephews, Alexandria Allen, Jonathan Branson, Lindsay Harris and Addison Harris; and nieces and nephew, Lauren, Kelly, Derek and their families.  He was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. Branson and Ruby Friddle Branson and his brother, Jerry Branson.          

     A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ by Rev. Kristin Vaughn.   Jack’s loved ones will receive friends from 3:00 – 3:45 PM Sunday prior to the service at the church.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, 2400 Mt. Hope Church Rd., Whitsett, NC 27377 or to a charity that benefits animals of the giver’s choice.
