Jack West

Jack Beaver West, age 79, of Canterbury Dr. passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Iredell County, he was the son of the late Malcolm L. West and Ola Beaver West, who survives. Jack was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church where he had served as an Ordained Deacon and Elder. Jack had been employed by Western Electric, AT&T and Bell Labs before retirement from Lucent Technology after 40 years of service. He spent 3 years with IBM. He was a 1953 graduate of Williams High School and attended N.C. State University. He was a member of the Burlington Civitan Club for 40 years where he had been President and Civitan of the Year in 2003. He was a charter member of Piedmont Cresent Golf Club now Quarry Hills Country Club. Following his retirement he worked at both Quarry Hills Country Club and The Challenge Golf Course. He was a US Army veteran. Both he and his wife, Elsie served faithfully on the Hospice Celebrity Golf Tournament Committee for seven years. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elsie Lee West of the home, sons, Michael Lee West and wife Kathy of Hilton Head, SC and David Allen West and wife Candy of Burlington; mother, Ola Beaver West of Burlington and grandchildren, Lindsay Anne West, Caitlin Lee West, Kalleigh Savannah West. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, October 9, 2014 in the First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dr. Ronald Shive, pastor. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. West will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church for services. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 5-7pm Wednesday.
