Elon Irma Rowland Seamster, 91, formerly of Lebanon Ave. passed away Friday, October 26, 2012 at Liberty Commons. She was the wife of the late Stephen Sydnor Seamster and was born July 22, 1921 in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late William Amos and Jennie Kate Eanes Rowland. Irma was a housemother for over 18 years with Elon Homes for Children and a member of Elon Community Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Jenny Seamster of Elon; sons, Stephen Seamster, Jr. and his wife Maria, David Seamster and his wife, Sheila and Reuben Seamster and his wife Connie all of Burlington; sister, Evelyn Hughes of Danville, VA; sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Bessie Seamster of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Willie Seamster; daughter, Ruth Long; sisters, Nora Mills, Virginia Rowland and Minnie Elliott; brothers Buford and Jesse Rowland; grandchildren, Luke Seamster and Miranda Seamster. The Seamster family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Liberty Commons for their compassionate care for Irma during her lengthy stay, as well as her neighbor, Nancy, for her love and friendship over many years. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Elon Community Church by Rev. Randy Orwig and the burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home of Stephen and Maria Seamster. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
