Irma Jones

Irma Hughes Jones, 78, of 2751 Spring Garden Rd, went home to the Lord, Monday, June 20, 2011 after several years of failing health and one week critical. She was the wife of the late Richard Franklin Jones and was born July 15, 1932 in Alamance County to the late Jesse James Hughes, Sr. and the late Flora Andrews Hughes. Irma had retired from AT&T and then retired again from Sears. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and worked in the nursery and preschool areas of the church. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her daughters; Deresa Lineberry, Janada Holloway, Angela Barker all of Mebane, Florine Dave Kaye of Green Level, a son Ricky Jones of Burlington, sisters; Annie Pearl Baird of Virginia Beach, VA, Valley Wagoner of Graham, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son Larry Jones, a sister Helen Vest, brothers; Jesse James Hughes, Jr. and Harold Hughes. The funeral will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Glen Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Larry Redding. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
