Irene Marley

Burlington, NC Irene "Rene" Victoria Combs Marley, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was a native of Davie County and the wife of the late Bobby Thomas Marley, Sr. Irene was a homemaker and member of The First Wesleyan Church. She was a member of the Janie Wilson Sunday School Class, a former CYC Teacher, Sunday School Teacher and member of the church choir. Irene worked for many years with The Alamance County Meals on Wheels and in her spare time enjoyed Ceramics, Basket weaving and Crocheting. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann and Samuel B. Smith of Portland, Tennessee, Gayle and Joe Davis of Graham, Vicky MacLean of Haw River; sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby T. "Tommy" Marley, Jr. and his wife, Denise of Burlington, Dwayne C. and Cathy Marley of Snow Camp; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Parker of Hillsborough, Annie Phillips Doss of Graham, Edith Strickland of Burlington, Edna Porterfield of Graham; brothers, Bud Comb, Melvin Combs and Ted Combs all of Burlington. Those who've gone before include her husband, parents, John Roby and Effie McCreary Combs; brothers, James and Elmer Combs. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Steve Saunders and Rev. Don Dawalt and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, Bobby T.
