It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ines Espinosa-Gartzke, who left this world on Thursday, April 17th, 2025. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Ines was the beloved daughter of Renate C. Espinosa and the late Juan M. Espinosa.
Ines is survived by her sisters, Carmen and Manuela Espinosa, her cherished nephew, Daniel Evan Espinosa, and her loving niece, Mia Elena Espinosa. She also leaves behind her beloved extended family in Germany and Spain, along with treasured friendships across the United States.
A proud graduate of Alamance Community College, Ines dedicated many years to caring for others as a nurse. Later in life, when her health no longer allowed her to continue in nursing, she found a new purpose in rescuing and caring for stray and feral cats. Her compassion knew no bounds—every animal she welcomed into her home was treated with the love and dignity they deserved. Ines found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time with her family, especially movie nights filled with laughter and connection. She also delighted in watching the birds outside her window, finding peace and beauty in their presence.
Ines will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, her deep empathy, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. She touched the hearts of all who knew her, human and animal alike, and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and care that will never be forgotten.
A private memorial will be held with family, and a celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Ines's memory by donating to Sparkle Cat Rescue, the Feral Cat Assistance Program, or any local rescue organization. Her kindness will live on in all the lives she touched.
