Burlington-Inez "Boots" Smith Conklin, age 86 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Caswell County and the wife of the late W. H. "Bud" Conklin, Jr. Inez was employed with Western Electric and later for 25 years with Home Interiors and Gifts, Inc. She was also a former co-owner of Carolina Marble Manufacturing, Inc. Inez was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Mitch Conklin and wife, Kimberly of Burlington; daughter, Kelli Simpson of Burlington and a granddaughter, Matti Dale Simpson of Burlington; sisters, Elva "Pete" Apple of Burlington and Erma Matherly and husband, Leonard of Burlington; brothers, Johnnie Smith and wife, Mildred of King and Fred Smith and wife, Judy of Elon and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Lester Hassel Smith and Mattie Belle McKinney Smith; sisters, Nellie Rudd, and Brona Herndon; brothers, Earl, Roy and Eugene Smith. The Conklin family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their kind and compassionate care for Inez during her illness. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Privette and the burial will follow at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
