Hubert Spain

Mr. Hubert Lee Spain, 66, of 1244 Lawndale Dr. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 26, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Spain was born March 2, 1942 in Floyd County, GA to the late Albert Lee Spain and Carrie Mae Johnson Spain. He was the husband of Mary Ann Spain who survives. Hubert retired after many years of service from Northwest Regional Hospital in Rome, GA. As a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, he enjoyed keeping the church grounds beautiful and was a member of Sunday School Class #1. Hubert was the OCR track chaplain, a loving husband, father, paw-paw and a great Christian man. Survivors include his wife of 44 years of the home; two daughters, Angelia Buchanan and her husband Danny of Jasper, GA and Melissa Gravitte and her husband James of Ranger, GA; a son, Ollie Spain and his wife Teresa of Graham; five grandchildren, Robert Spain, Jennifer Spain, Jamey Gravitte, Hannah Spain, and Jarett Gravitte; and a sister, Carolyn Mauney of Rome, GA. Mr. Spain was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Joey Gravitte. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Tabernacle Baptist Church by the Rev. Norman Fargis. Mr. Spain will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, Grounds Fund, 515 N.
