Howard "Howie" Norwick

Howard “Howie” Michael Norwick, 66, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on July 30, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Louis Norwick and Eileen Lenore Smith Norwick and was the husband of 36 years to Heidi Ann Thurau Norwick who survives.

Family was the most important thing in Howie’s life. In addition to being a loving husband and father, he was a college lacrosse and high school football official for over 40-years. He was a mentor in sports and in life to many young people. He was a volunteer in the Wings to Recovery Program at Alamance Regional Cancer Center. A three-time cancer survivor, he used his own adversity to support others and give them hope. He was an avid University of Maryland Terrapins fan and he recently enjoyed keeping the clock at Williams High School football and basketball games. Howie retired as an Area Director of Operations/CFO of Wells Fargo Insurance Services.  He was a member of Temple Emmanuel in Greensboro.

Survivors other than his wife Heidi, include his children, Hannah Lynn Norwick and her husband Demetrius Goosbey, Edward “Eddie” Raymond Norwick and Jillian Grace Norwick; a sister, Shelly Abramson and husband, Jerry; a sister-in-law, Laurie Norwick;  brothers-in-law, Paul Thurau and wife, Catherine; Jeff Thurau and wife Janie; nieces and nephews, Michael Abramson and wife Lauren, Gaby Abramson, Samantha Norwick, Christopher Thurau and wife Julianna, Theresa Thurau, Shelbi Thurau, Karissa Thurau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward “Ed” Robert Norwick.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, June 28th, more details to come.
