Howard Thaxton

Burlington – Howard Michael “Mike” Thaxton, 63, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2019 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Wake County on December 7, 1955 to Howard Odell and Patricia Ann Johnson Thaxton and was the husband of 39 years to Margaret Faye Overman Thaxton of the home.

Mike was co-owner/operator of HO-PA Lawn and Garden for over 30 years and later worked for the Guilford County School System. He enjoyed riding horses, wood working, car restoration and anything that required him to work with his hands.  He also enjoyed vacationing at his cabin in the mountains.  Most of all he loved spending time with family, especially his grandkids.  Mike proved himself a mentor to many and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Survivors include his wife, Faye of the home; daughter, Melissa Thaxton Martin (Jonathan); son, Allen Michael Thaxton; grandsons, Connor Thaxton and Colton Martin; brother, Kenneth “Kent” Thaxton (Camille); sisters, Kimberly Ann Campbell (Mike) and Amy Lynn Baker (Will) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Don Pegg.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at his home.
