Howard Harvey, Jr.

Elon – Howard G. Harvey, Jr., 71, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 5, 2019 at the Hospice Home.  He was born in Jackson, MS on January 16, 1948 to the late Howard Gladstone Harvey, Sr. and Eleanor Barrett Harvey and was the husband of 43 ½ years to Rose Smith Harvey of the home.

Howard served as a US Army Veteran and was a member of Faith Christian Church. He worked 32 years with MGM Transport as a truck driver and most recently worked part time at Lowes Home Improvement.  Howard enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a devoted Christian, husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; daughter, Amanda Lynn Moore and husband Paul; granddaughter, Summer Rose Moore and sisters, Patsy Maddox (James) and Davida Spencer (Grady).  He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Doris K. Black and Nancy Black.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Reid Dickens.  The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service on Thursday and other times at his home.
