Homer "Peanut" Milton Clemmons, age 76, of Burlington went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 8th, 1936 in Alamance County to the late Johnnie Milton Clemmons and the late Wilmer Jeanette Kernodle "Granny" Clemmons. He was married on November 5th, 1955 to Dorothy Alene Cook-Clemmons who survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Wendy Clemmons-Carroll Timothy; four grandchildren, Wesley Cheyenne Hall, Bryan Patrick Byrd, Justin Linzy Byrd and April Danielle Hall; great grandchildren, Clayton Cheyenne Paul and Brandon Skyler Clapp; three sisters, Helen Marie Hardy of Hollywood , FL and Betty Tommy Pritchett of Elon and Joy Billy Paul McCaskill of Burlington; a brother, Johnnie Milton Clemmons, Jr. of Burlington; son-in-law, Ronnie Lisa Byrd; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Cook Winfree, Charlene Cook L.D. Summers and Dula Cook Hester; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces; and his beloved friend and companion, "Buzy". He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Marie Clemmons-Byrd; parents; and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Clemmons-Jones. "Peanut" was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was the owner and operator of Clemmons and Son's Garage and County Garbage Service until retirement. He loved to race and was a dirt track racer and also loved NASCAR. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and truly a great friend. He will be greatly missed and even though he is no longer with us physically he will always be with us spiritually. We love you always and forever. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Kerr's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Bennie Smith and George Nall. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Clemmons family.
