Burlington, NC Hilda Fowler Simmons, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Hospice Home. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Richard Douglas "Joe" Simmons. Hilda retired as a bookkeeper with Jeffries Paint and Paper. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ and a member of the Ladies Bible Class, church choir and a former deaconess. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Kay Simmons of Swepsonville and Marilyn Bradshaw of Swepsonville; sons, Richard Douglas Simmons, II and his wife, Judy of Graham and David Lee Simmons, Sr. of Burlington; grandchildren, Leslie Simmons Branson of Greensboro, David Lee Simmons, II., Dana Simmons Levens, Richard Douglas Simmons, III and Joseph Allen Simmons all of Burlington; great grandchildren, Joshua Branson, Jack Branson, Kaylee Levens, Kyle Levens, Jr. and Maddilyn Simmons; sister, Peggy Fowler Jones of Greensboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Zeb A. and Grace Mae Faucette Fowler; sister, Nadine F. McGovern and a brother, Claude A. Fowler. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Phil Myers and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p. m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at her home, White Oak Manor Apartments.
