Herman Pruitt

Herman Fred Pruitt, 79, of 4035 Powell Rd. passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Pruitt was born in Ashe County to the late Fred and Laura Atwood Pruitt. He worked and retired from Western Electric, was a member of Riverside Baptist Church where he was a member of the Believers Sunday School Class, and was on the Building and Grounds Committee; Herman had a great love for flowers; he was a charter member of the Central Day Lilly Club and a member of the A.H. S. and had an A. H. S. Show Garden. Survivors include his wife, Alice H. Pruitt; Sons, Ricky Pruitt and his wife, Phyllis of Mebane and Jeff Davis and his wife, Cynthia of Burlington; a daughter, Tara Martin and her husband, Carl of Mebane; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Davis, Summer Davis, Joshua Martin, Sierra Martin, David Martin, Phillip Mauldin, Gary Mauldin, Nathan Robertson, and Nicholas Robertson; six great grandchildren, Douglas Saxton Kimrey, Sammy Mauldin, Dalton Robertson, Garrett Robertson, Savannah Mauldin, and Cheyanne Mauldin; two sisters, Carol Harris and her husband, Earl of Burlington, and Linda Gluck and her husband, Bill of Charlotte; and a brother, Kenneth Pruitt and his wife, Clara of Winston- Salem. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Riverside Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Stephenson, Rev. Curtis Oakley, and Rev. Kevin Valeu officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
