Herbert Jordan

Mr. Herbert Hoover Jordan, age 78, of 1871 U.S. Hwy 70-East, Mebane, passed on to the Lord on Wednesday November 28, 2007 following a lengthy illness. A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late William Henry and Della Simmons Jordan and husband of Audrey Champion Jordan, with whom he spent 52 years. He was the youngest of thirteen children, all deceased, save for a sister Dorothy and a brother Frank. He was a Korean War Army Veteran who enjoyed fishing and taking long walks in the wood. He enjoyed gospel music, playing the guitar and singing for his family. Herbert was a service technician, working with Big Jims Appliance, G. Marvin Holt Appliance, Graham Farm Services and Tire Sales before opening Jordan Small Appliance Repair. Survivors include his wife, Audrey of the home, children, Lawrence L. Jordan, Herbert J. Jordan and wife, Robin K, Pamela J. Harper and husband Joseph, Bonnie J. Harper and husband Harold Harper, Jr.; 10 grandchildren, Chris, Doug, Joey, Timothy, Melissa, Josh, Tony, Patrick, Kimberly and Harold, III and 2 great grandchildren, Richard and Benjamin. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday December 2, 2007 at Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Jordan will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the cemetery for services. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 4-6 P.M. Saturday.
